Review alerts and QC evidence

An alert becomes useful when its location, timing, imagery, and decision history are clear.

QC editing is available to Admins and Analysts. If you cannot change a review, ask a workspace Admin to check your role.

  1. Open Alerts and optionally filter by supplier, QC status, and date range.
  2. Select a cluster to open its detail page. Use the previous/next controls to move through the current filtered list.
  3. Check the supplier, alert date, location, confidence, detection geometry, and before/after imagery.
  4. Set the QC status: New, Under Review, Confirmed, or False Alert.
  5. Select the relevant Forest Disturbance driver or drivers when the review supports them.
  6. Add the QC date and, if useful, reviewer name and notes; save the verification.

QC status and notes​

  • New: not yet reviewed.
  • Under Review: evidence is being checked or needs follow-up.
  • Confirmed: the review supports a forest disturbance finding.
  • False Alert: the signal is not a confirmed disturbance. A note explaining why is required.

If you select a disturbance driver while the status is still New, change the status before saving. This prevents a driver from being recorded as a completed review accidentally.

Review the geometry​

When the available evidence supports a mapped boundary, draw or edit a polygon on the map and save it with the QC record. A polygon review requires exactly one disturbance driver, unless the status is False Alert. You can also upload a QC GeoJSON file. Check that the uploaded shape matches the alert and supplier area before saving.

Resolve conflicting or incomplete reviews​

If imagery is missing, cloudy, or contradictory, use Under Review and describe what is missing. Do not use False Alert to mean “not enough evidence.” If someone else updates the record while you are editing, reload the latest version and review their changes before saving over it.

Imagery previews​

The Sentinel-2 preview can search either a composite over a date range or individual scenes. Use the cloud limit and date range to find a useful view. Download a preview for offline review when needed. Applying a preview as the before or after chip replaces that side of the alert comparison, so use the action only after checking the selected dates and visible area.
